What a great list of links. This will become a reference for future discussions about free software, specially with people that underestimate it. I was googling and I found this url, I would add it to the list: http://www.intel.com/cd/software/opensource/asmo-na/eng/index.htm

Great addition, ceronman. I added a similar URL that looks a little bit better than that one. :-)

I was thinking about the GPL Java announcement, when I started thinking most companies that matter nowadays are involved one way or another with free software. So I decided to compile a list and that's what I got to.

It really is amazing, eh?

Well, we have anonymous too. I wonder WTF oracle has to do with communism. No wonder why the comment is anonymous.

About the "Culi-frees", Yes! I remember that a lot of people used to say that Free Software were for students. And we all graduated and now we are surrounded by servers, all of then running Free Software. Now we are making money, and there is a lot of free software around. :)

I don't care much about those comments now. I know they have to protect their establishment and FUD is the best way to do that for them.

Yes, Arhuaco. I guess we are really lucky we did take free software seriously. Some other people were caught up in the FUD. There really is a lot of free software everywhere now. :-)

I know it is not part of the industry, but sounds fancy: http://opensource.arc.nasa.gov/

Beowulf started at the NASA. It was a major contribution. Donald Becker created many Ethernet drivers for the Linux kernel.

Grateful,
